Don has been on the Rawlings Board for the past several years. He is originally from Seymour, Indiana and has spent most of his life in Louisville. Don’s business career has been in the restaurant industry. He joined KFC in the early 1970’s and served 18 years in various leadership positions, including President of KFC-USA for his last five years there. Don subsequently was recruited as CEO of Carl’s Jr., a 600-store hamburger chain based in California. He then returned to Louisville as CEO of Rally’s Hamburgers.
When Rally’s was acquired by Checkers, Don and a partner became the first franchisees of Qdoba Mexican Grill. They built 30 Qdoba stores in Kentucky and Tennessee, ultimately selling them back to the parent company. Don has retired from the restaurant business, but still stays involved, helping various restaurant startups.
